Chadwick's History / About us
Chadwick's builders moved to mowbray drive in 1956. The transition from building
to timber merchant came about by accident. Local people, with no proper suppliers
of timber etc in the mid 60s used to call in and ask if they could buy materials
out of the yard. The yard then only supplied the joiners shop and the building sites.
In 1966 a small office was erected in the yard, with the purpose of supplying timber,
increased demand lead to the opening of our diy & ironmongery store in 1973.
From then on as adjacent buildings have become available, they were purchased and
the company has expanded in to what it is today. Now with more than 8 different
departments and nearly 50 staff, Chadwick's stocks over 5000 different lines from
kitchens, sheet materials, doors and plastics, to paints, floorings and worktops.
Not to mention the largest timber yard and saw mill on the Fylde coast.
